Study Avoidance

Hi there Internet peoples!

So, here I am, avoiding studying for my International Taxation exam on Thursday (because it's boring and open book) and have come up with NEW EXCITING PLANS for my practice Tudor gown before I charge off onto my household gown. It's more of an experiment really. And for that reason I sort of just want to use cheap fabric or fabric I already have.... But the most fabric I have is a stash of red wool and a bolt of about 11m of obnoxious yellow silk. If yellow worked with my skin tones I totally would... But alas it does not.

I want to make this black gown seen in a portrait of Mary Queen of Scotts.

I can't decide what colour of fabric to use either. I don't really want to go just black and gold, because I already have a Tudor gown of those colours. Yellow and blue is also not really what I want because I want to do that for my household gown. Maybe red and gold?

Either way I need to make a corset, preferably one that has a front busk, but then it'll have to have back lacing. I would like to make the corset out of my yellow silk, so I can re use it for my household gown later. The corset with have a Spanish farthingale underneath and tie together. I have just recently discoverred they tie together reading Jane Arnold's patterns of fassion! Fascinating! Next there should be a kirtle that goes over that and would be what shows through the triangular piece of the skirt at the front. The forepart? I'm thinking I might make this in white because both my household gown and this one have a white forepar. I'm thinking I might put some buckram in it or lightly bone it just so it sits flat ontop of the corset... Although no idea how it'll manage that. Tempted to skil it or make one of those kirtles from the tudor tailor that have a massive U front.

I Just realized I already have a white skirt that was handed down to me by an older sca member. Maybe I'll use that! Next is the gown. Still no idea what colour or material. Probably cotton velvet. I'm still thinking gold silk trim everywhere unless I find some AMAZING and super wide trim.

Hmm.. I think that's all for now considering stooopid blogger won't let me upload pics nicely from my iPad. They really need a proper app! *grumpy*

But here are some awesome pics. I especially like the pink dress its SO SUPER CUTE! Enjoy =)
