Hello!
Ooook! So! Festival is a go. Wo. I've booked everything, paid for nearly everything and only have a few things left to do.
Plan Sew a lot is a go.
There are a few things I have wanted to do for ages and haven't gotten around to do. I really want to get a lot done, but I have about 4 weeks left and I do NOT want to rush things and do them badly.
Trying new things though. I'm going to make some man-garb (Which reminds me I should get back into my documenting how I did things habit instead of my thought spurg thing).
I re-fitted my green kirtle pattern and made that into a petticoat. I had to ditch the idea of fixing my purple one, I couldn't find any matching material. So now I have a very booby baby blue kirtle. Such a conformist, I know.
So now that is done I can move onto other kirtles and such. I really want to get my Maroon kirtle happening, which was cut out when I went to festival in 2011. Today though I started on my "casual blue tudor" which will be exactly the same shape as my red and gold Tudor, but a cotton material, Less fancy and will probably have a sizeable black guard for festival.
I need to fix up my chemise and shirt collection. I plan to make at least one shirt and either a smock or foofy chemise for festival. Ideally I would like two shirts and the third item, but time... =/
What I really NEED to do is fix up my brown coat. That needs the front re-sew. I think I will replace the hooks and eyes with the gold buttons I used for my Tudor sleeves. (Oh yeah, I finished those btw).
Here is my list of stuff...
To Fix:
-Fix current smocks (actually hem them)
-Fix brown coat, with buttons and re-sewing.
To Sew:
-Blue Casual Tudor (1/3 finished after today!)
-simple black velvet hood - exactly like my fench hood but without the top cresent and all black with beading around the edge.
-Shirts/chemise
-German garb (Very much like this)
-Maroon Kirtle
-Red wool Kirtle with overlap design and MAYBE loose sleeves...
-MAN GARB
I am very aware that there is a lot on this list and I do not have time, considering I go back to uni on the 9th of March. I have prioritised it. For starters, I'm almost finished my tudor that I started today, which was a bit of a shock!
The problem is that the German will need NEW patterning, the Kirtles will need tweeked patterning.
For the German I want to do the doublet in Red Wool and black velvet. In the same sort of stripes as the lady in the above link has done, which is based of this:
Which is the original, extant women’s embroidered velvet doublet of c. 1585 – preserved in the Germanisches Nationalmuseum, Nürnberg. It is boned like a "pair of bodies," and it also features lacing strips in the inside (not visible). The buttons close over the lacing strips.
Which can also be found in the Patterns Of Fashion, book.
As for the hood, here are some pics I'm thinking about: (The First two flat hoods would probably be the go)
Anyway, gotta get back to my sew-a-thon! Might even get my Tudor done by the weekend *Fingers crossed*

Pondering...
I wrote this ages ago but apparently I failed at posting!
Pondering whether or not to go to festival this year.
I am planning to go to Europe, either with a friend or by myself next year.
I figured out a budget of less than $2,000 for Festival and figured that wouldn't really jeopardize my Europe plans. But if I do go, I need to get organised and sewing.
I have so much garb that ideally needs fixing and garb that I just wouldn't take. Like my new Tudor dresses.
First thing first! I need a new petticoat. My purple one sort of died, so I'll need to replace that. I also have been planning a kirtle to go over that petticoat since festival 2011.
Ideally I would take maybe 3ish dresses over there and wear them all week. chemises though! I need a few more of those. Maybe a shirt too.
The German I've been planing to make might be a go as well. I was planning it out of wool, So that would be great!
